OUR MISSION
CRASHENDO! East Gippsland is a community-initiated and operated music and social development program, based on El Sistema (Venezuela) a worldwide 40+ year network.
Programs provide free high quality instrumental tuition, community orchestra, professional development, performances and unique collaborative events. This improves educational and social outcomes for children, youth, their parents and the wider community. Some programs give focussed support for those who are experiencing challenges in their lives. .
OUR ACTIVITIES
- Early Years - Professional Development opportunities including an instrument library with associated lesson plans
- Pre-orchestral and instrumental music programs for primary school aged children
- Youth(ful) Orchestra weekly rehearsals plus regular performances (all ages and skill levels)
- Youth Strings Extension Program - collaboration with Itet-John Noble's Quartet Program
- Unique Events - one-off or annual including: July school holiday program, side by side workshops and performances with visiting professional musicians and local orchestras/bands, collaboration with Quasitrad Music for folk music festival
- Talent Attraction program - to attract skilled personnel to the area and training/mentoring for local youth, to fulfil skills shortage
- Other events as they arise.
Some activities particularly support those experiencing adversity.All programs operate in East Gippsland, a regional area of Victoria.
We have a band of young and adult volunteers, from 14 – 80+ years, who support us musically and administratively.
